What is Songs In The Round?

Songs in the Round is an intimate concert where multiple songwriters share the stage, trading songs and stories one by one. Inspired by Frank Fiction’s decade as a songwriter in Nashville and the famous Bluebird Cafe, we’re bringing this unique format to Crown & Press, stripping songs to their essence: human, conversational, and often spontaneously collaborative. All evening, songwriters take turns sharing the story behind and then performing a song, offering the audience a rare look at the craft behind the music, with others sometimes joining in. It’s a listening-room experience built on connection, surprise, and songs as they were written: up close and personal.

Special Guests

Jon Harvey

Jon Harvey co-founded Monster Truck, the Hamilton rock band that won the 2013 Juno Award for Breakthrough Group of the Year and spent over a decade touring internationally, sharing the stage with Nickelback, Billy Talent, Alice in Chains (and many more), as well as headlining festivals. In 2024 he left to start The Wild High, a country-rock band drawing on Leon Russell, The Sheepdogs, and southern rock. He’s used to playing loud rooms but hearing him trade songs acoustically at a round is a different animal entirely. He and Frank played shows together as part of separate Hamilton punk bands in the 90s, crossed paths again at the Junos in 2013— the same year Frank won his Juno—and are now sharing the stage for the first time since.

Nick Zubeck (joined by Liv Cazzola)

Nick Zubeck is a songwriter and guitarist who has released six solo albums and played sideman for Sun Kil Moon, Great Lake Swimmers, Donovan Woods, and Sandro Perri, among others. He’s been on stages from Pitchfork Fest to London’s Royal Festival Hall, and runs a recording studio in Guelph. His writing moves between folk, jazz, ambient, and art rock — genre-resistant but always song-first. Joining him is Liv Cazzola, a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter known as one half of Tragedy Ann, nominated for two Ontario Folk Music Awards in 2025. She plays accordion, singing saw, and guitar, making this pairing feel like a musical conversation already well underway.

Who is Frank Fiction?

Frank Fiction is an alt-folk/americana project from Hamilton songwriter Elias Dummer, a Juno Award–winning recording artist whose career includes eight Billboard Top 40 singles, five Top 40 albums, and over 100 million streams. After a decade in Nashville, Dummer returned to his hometown of Hamilton to co-found Crown & Press, where he now hosts Songs In The Round—a full-circle moment that brings together a lifelong love of songs with a room where art meets everyday life.
